What most people ask before moving a domain.
Will my website go down during a transfer?
Usually not, if DNS stays pointed where it is today. We advise you before changing nameservers.
Do I need an EPP / auth code?
Yes for most transfers, including .ie. Unlock the domain at your current registrar, request the auth / EPP code, then start with us.
How do I unlock my domain?
Log in to your current registrar’s control panel and turn off transfer lock / registrar lock. If you can’t find it, their support can unlock it — or email us and we’ll help you locate the setting.
How long does a transfer take?
Often a few days once the code is accepted and any confirmation emails are approved. Timing depends on the extension and how quickly the current registrar and you respond.
Can I transfer .com and .ie together?
Yes. Both can live in the same Host Cloud account — .ie with us as registrar, other extensions via our partner.
Are you an official .ie registrar?
Yes. Host Cloud is an official .IE Accredited Registrar with IEDR. .ie transfers come to us directly — not through an overseas middleman.
Will my DNS settings change?
We aim to keep your site working as it is. After the move you can keep existing nameservers or switch DNS into Host Cloud when you’re ready — we won’t change things without advising you.
Do I need hosting with Host Cloud to transfer?
No. You can transfer the domain on its own. Add hosting or business email later if you want — or keep the site elsewhere.
What if the transfer gets stuck?
Email or call us with the domain name. We’ll chase approvals, codes and status with you — phone Mon–Fri 9:00–17:00, email and live chat 24/7.
Is there a transfer fee?
Yes. A .ie transfer is €9.95. After that, renewal is €24.95/year — the same as our standard .ie renewal price. Other extensions are confirmed at checkout before you pay.
